How to Choose a Community Manager in Dubai: Questions, Checks and Prices (Part 2)

How to choose a community manager in Dubai: agency team planning content

Knowing how to choose a community manager in Dubai starts with your needs, not with the type of provider. A freelancer and an agency can both be right, at different stages.

In Part 1, we compared what each option offers. This second part gives you the questions to ask, the checks that protect your business, our published starting prices and a simple way to decide.

How to choose a community manager in Dubai: five questions

  1. How many platforms, and how often? More platforms and more formats favour a team.
  2. Do you need video, photography or paid ads? If yes, check who will produce them and at what cost.
  3. Do you need Arabic and English content? Check who writes and who checks each language.
  4. How important is reporting? Ask what you will receive monthly and how results are linked to your goals.
  5. What is your growth plan? If you expect new locations or products, think about capacity.

Protect your business, whatever you choose

  • Account ownership: the accounts stay in your company's name, with you as owner and the provider as administrator.
  • Written scope: a short document listing platforms, posts, formats and languages.
  • Notice period: agreed in advance, so a change of provider is planned.
  • Content ownership: who owns the photos, videos and texts created for you.
  • Test month: before a long commitment, with two or three indicators to review, such as messages received, reach and enquiries.
  • Back-ups: with a freelancer especially, keep copies of content files and access, so your activity does not stop if they become unavailable.

Freelancer or agency: who fits which case

Your situation Often the better fit
Small business, simple needs, tight budget, few channels A good freelancer
Several skills needed together: strategy, design, video, ads An agency
Bilingual content in English and Arabic every week An agency, or a freelancer with a reliable second writer
Social media is an important source of clients An agency with reporting linked to enquiries
Fast growth, new locations or products Start freelance, plan the move to a team

Some businesses start with a freelancer and move to an agency as they grow. That is perfectly reasonable if the handover is planned.

FAQ

Is a freelance community manager cheaper than an agency?

Usually yes per month. But photography, video and ads may be paid separately, so compare the full cost over twelve months.

Who should own the social media accounts?

Your company. The provider works as an administrator, with access you can remove at any time.

Can I move from a freelancer to an agency later?

Yes. Many businesses do. Plan the handover: access, content files, calendar and a short summary of what works.

How long should a test period be?

One month is a good start, with two or three indicators agreed in advance.

What should a monthly report include?

Reach, engagement and, above all, messages and enquiries received, with a short note on what will change next month.
